Austrian
Vet's Appalling Pig Farm Occupied by Activists
For years countless complaints have
been made to authorities about unacceptable
standards in the pig farm owned by Austrian
vet Entenfellner. Kept in over crowded filthy
conditions, many pigs have bitten off ears and
tails. Despite repeated complaints authorities
take no action, VGT therefore occupied the farm
on 8 December demanding an end to the cruelty
animals are made to endure here.
A recent film of conditions on the Entenfellner
farm:
While many of Austria's animal rights campaigners
have the threat of prison looming over their
heads for doing nothing more than legitimate
NGO work, animal cruelty goes ignored on Austrian
farms!
Vet routinely breaks the law
It has been common knowledge for over 10 years
that Austrian vet and pig farmer Entenfellner
routinely breaks the animal welfare laws on
his farm. Appalling conditions have been documented
on his farm on numerous occasions, each time
being followed up by an official complaint to
the authorities. In each case those responsible
have failed to act.
Animals rotting alive
In the factory farm belonging to this vet over
3000 pigs are simply rotting alive – existing
in their own excrement with open wounds, bleeding
injuries and mutilations left untreated.
When will we finally see a special
commission investigating animal cruelty?
People are appalled by conditions exposed
on factory farms, but instead of tightening
controls and penalising those breaking the law
the repression of NGO work continues.
VGT-spokesman commented “We will not be intimidated
and we will continue to show who the real criminals
are”.
