A Bad Joke? - Pig Farmer and Vet Entenfellner gives Talk on Pig Hygiene!

Appalling conditions ignored by inspecting veterinarian. VGT protest at Entenfellner talk

It sounds like a bad joke – intensive pig farmer and vet Mag. Entenfellner gives a talk at an Austrian agricultural school on pig farming and pig hygiene with the sub heading “Austrian pig farmers have no need to hide”.

Outraged animal campaigners took this opportunity to show the public how animals suffer on the speaker's very own farm.

Following VGT complaint state vet finds no deficiencies?

In the film documenting conditions on the farm received anonymously by VGT (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_fBxQSz8do ), a number of examples can be identified which clearly break the law and illustrate animal suffering, however, a state vet inspecting the farm in response to VGT complaints claims to find no problems. How can that be?
The state vet appears to be of the opinion that bitten off body parts are not a problem. The question of why these injuries are not treated or how they happened in the first place is not even asked!

David Richter from VGT "The laws governing the pig industry are an absolute catastrophe – they simply legalise animal cruelty and now we see that even these laws are not being enforced. The pigs on Entenfellner's farm get one piece of wood between 50 of them as enrichment. Common sense tells us that the result of boredom and over crowding will result in aggression between the pigs. VGT has the job of informing the public about the conditions the pigs and other “farm” animals exist in. The state however, is doing its best to criminalise this work – people should make their own informed opinion about conditions on Austrian farms!”
